On the 18 December, 2004, Mr Jim Lee on his forum Gelatometti, wanted all to try inking over his pencils of a Batman-Superman page. I found out about this challenge rather late... only have a day before the deadline. But since i'm such a great fan of his work, i wouldn't wanna miss out on this opportunity in the hope of getting some critique from the Man himself. So with very little time but a lot of enthusiasm i've got it done in time.

Guess what, out of tons of submissions from wannabe artists, mine was chosen to be commented...

"Alan Quah sent in this file of his inks over my pencils. Alan reports it took him about 10 hours. That sounds about right. Click on the link to see the file closer up.

Overall I think he did a damn good job...."

hey ubod-ng,

Thanks for the compliments... saw yours too. Not too bad my friend.

I basically use pigment ink balliners of diff. point sizes and very little brushes. I like to slowly compose my shadow areas with broader tip artlines. I start my drawing at the finer details first, contrary to the style of pro inker Mr. Riggs. I think Mr Jim Lee does the same with his inks too.

I think you Philipinos are a very talented bunch. Seen a lot of stuff churned out by your countrymen.
Great stuff.

Again my compliments to your work too!

Actually there's no fix way for the use my blacks. Sometimes i used brush.. but most of the time i use permanent markers. For this piece my brush is only on my white touch-ups.
